Attending the talks were Cui Jing, Senior Vice President of DAYU Irrigation Group and Chairman of Equipment Development Group; Vice President Chen Jing; Wang Junli, Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory at Equipment Development Group; along with officials from relevant departments of the Ghanaian government, accompanying delegates, and representatives from participating enterprises. 。

The talks highlighted that Ghana currently faces the challenge of high dependence on food imports, with annual import costs amounting to approximately US$4 billion. As a result, food security has become a critical factor impacting the country’s economic and social development. At the same time, Ghana boasts vast land resources, abundant water supplies, and a vibrant, youthful workforce—providing an excellent foundation for developing modern agriculture. This meeting aims to unlock Ghana’s agricultural potential by introducing China’s advanced irrigation technologies and proven project expertise, thereby accelerating the nation’s transition from a "food-importing country" to a "food-sufficient nation." It also represents a significant step in implementing the spirit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and deepening practical agricultural cooperation between China and Ghana.
Chairman Wang Haoyu DAYU Irrigation, as China's largest privately-owned and publicly listed irrigation enterprise, boasts extensive experience in the research and development of advanced irrigation technologies, as well as in project construction and operational management. The group will leverage "China Standards" and "China Speed" to drive forward the construction of collaborative demonstration projects, laying a solid foundation for future large-scale engineering initiatives. Drawing on its proven, full-chain collaboration model—validated both in China and across numerous countries worldwide—Dahua Water Saving will provide comprehensive support for the Ghana project, including establishing a full-cycle operation and maintenance system that covers every stage, from equipment installation and routine upkeep to troubleshooting and repairs. Additionally, the company will conduct localized technical training programs, offering hands-on irrigation instruction to Ghanaian farmers and technicians, thereby nurturing local agricultural expertise and fostering homegrown agricultural talent. Finally, Dahua Water Saving will develop standardized construction processes to ensure both project quality and timely progress, ultimately boosting irrigation efficiency in a practical and sustainable manner.
President Mahama The Ghanaian government highly endorsed the cooperation proposal submitted by the DAYU Irrigation Group, stating that agricultural investment has been prioritized as a key component of the nation's economic development agenda. The government will coordinate resources across fiscal, agricultural, and water management departments to provide both financial support and policy safeguards for the collaborative project, ensuring its timely implementation and tangible benefits—ultimately benefiting Ghanaian citizens and fostering robust agricultural growth.

The meeting briefed on the progress of the two sides' previous collaboration. Building on the strong foundation of past cooperation, DAYU Irrigation Group has proactively dispatched a team of expert engineers to the Afram Plains in Ghana to conduct a feasibility study for an irrigation project. Preliminary assessments indicate that both parties plan to initially implement an irrigation system covering 10,000 hectares, with plans to gradually expand the project based on its outcomes and Ghana’s growing agricultural development needs. Ultimately, the goal is to establish a modernized irrigation system capable of covering 500,000 hectares of farmland, thereby helping Ghana achieve large-scale, standardized agricultural production practices.
The agricultural irrigation cooperation recently established between DAYU Irrigation and the Ghanaian government will not only directly enhance Ghana's agricultural productivity and ease pressure on food imports, but also provide a replicable and scalable model for China-Africa agricultural collaboration. Taking this partnership as an opportunity, both sides will deepen their cooperation in areas such as agricultural technology exchange and infrastructure projects aimed at improving people's livelihoods, further expanding the scope of China-Ghana economic and trade ties, and contributing to the building of a China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era.
After the talks, Chairman Wang Haoyu and his delegation also held a focused exchange with heads of relevant Ghanaian government departments and representatives from the accompanying business enterprises, discussing collaborative efforts on Ghana’s people’s livelihood projects and reaching preliminary arrangements for advancing specific follow-up tasks.
